We’re talking a lot about advertising and social media this week

We’re talking a lot about advertising and social media this week. Let’s apply this directly to one of the successful ad campaigns mentioned in this module’s lecture:

  • ALS #IceBucketChallenge
  • Always #LikeAGirl
  • Coca-Cola #ShareaCoke
  • IKEA bookbook video
  • McDonald’s Super Bowl 2015
  • Taco Bell #OnlyInTheApp
  • Virgin America Boo videos

In a minimum of 3 pages, please do the following:

  • Provide a summary of the ad or include a screenshot, and explain what the intent behind the ad is.
  •  From there, look at what the ad actually says (like the beer ad from Module 3 says that women are sex objects).
    • Describe how social media plays into the intent and the actual message?
    • What made it successful (or not successful)?
    • What ideas and opinions do you have about the product or brand after reviewing the ad?
  • What can we learn about how businesses use Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, etc. to communicate, network, broaden their customer base, and promote their products/services?

Final Project Submission: Program Evaluation Paper

Final Project Submission: Program Evaluation Paper

Instructions

You will submit your final program evaluation paper. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final product. It should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained from milestone assignments throughout the course.
For additional details, please refer to the Final Project Document.

Feedback for Milestone One: Your draft is well written and substantiated by scholarly sources here. You have addressed the developmental issue, population, and impact of the issue. Your paper is grammatically correct. Overall, nice work on this milestone. As you continue to think about this issue and choosing a program to review make sure the program is a real live program center that you can research further (i.e., YMCA, mental health clinic in your community, development center).

Feedback for Milestone Two: Nice job here! Nice work choosing a program that matches your chosen developmental topic. Please include subtitles, such as “nature vs nurture, etc.” You have provided a nice overview of your program. I do want you to review developmental theory in regard to the program using specific concepts from developmental theory and applying them here.  You have included excellent research and there are no grammatical errors. Outstanding writing

This week’s activity illustrates the role a company’s accounting method plays in financial statement reporting

Purpose of Assignment

This week’s activity illustrates the role a company’s accounting method plays in financial statement reporting. In this assignment, students evaluate the events occuring in a business setting and determine how to properly analyze those events to identify the impact on both cash and accrual accounting methods.

Resources
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
  • Tutorial help on Excel and Word functions can be found on the Microsoft Office website. There are also additional tutorials via the web offering support for Office products.
Assignment Steps

Scenario: BizCon, a consulting firm, has just completed its first year of operations. The company’s sales growth was explosive. To encourage clients to hire its services, BizCon offered 180-day financing – meaning its largest customers do not pay for nearly 6 months. Because BizCon is a new company, its equipment suppliers insist on being paid cash on delivery. Also, it had to pay up front for 2 years of insurance. At the end of the year, BizCon owed employees for one full month of salaries, but due to a cash shortfall, it promised to pay them the first week of next year.

As the senior accountant, the Chief Financial Officer has asked you to prepare a memo to be sent to management notifying them of the delayed wage payments.

Prepare the memo in a maximum 500 words using business writing (see week 1) including the following information to better outline the situation:

  • Explain how cash and accrual accounting differs for each of the events listed in the above scenario and describe the proper accrual accounting.
  • Assess how at the end of the year, BizCon reported a favorable net income, yet the company’s management is concerned because the company is very short of cash. Explain to management how BizCon could have positive net income and yet run out of cash.

USE the memo template provided in week 1 for formatting. ONLY use APA for citations and references.

Submit your assignment.

You are to gather and analyze conversations comparing virtual to face-to-face interactions.

Instructions

You are to gather and analyze conversations comparing virtual to face-to-face interactions.

  • Begin by creating a brief 5 question opinion survey/interview on a topic of interest. This should include open-ended questions so that the people surveyed can elaborate on their answers.

Please be mindful of using open questions in your survey. These are questions that require an explanation / more than a few words. Here are some examples: What are some of the things you like about this class?  What are the challenges of going to school while working full time?  How is an online class different from a face-to-face class?  What types of activities do you enjoy in your class?  Describe the consequences of getting behind.  Avoid closed questions. These are questions that can be answered with a couple words and offer no explanation. Here are examples:  How many classes are you taking this semester? What classes are you taking this semester? When do you have class? Do you think you are going to pass? Did you turn in all your assignments? Are the tests hard? When is the semester over?

  • Complete the survey/interview with 3 people face-to-face then complete the same survey/interview with 3 people using virtual communication such as email, text messaging, chat room, discussion board, or any other virtual means that you wish to use.
  • To prepare your essay, think critically about your results.

Determine what your thesis is and state it clearly and concisely. It should briefly introduce your topic but more importantly should indicate how virtual interaction compares and contrasts with face-to-face interaction. This will be the first sentence of your essay.

In the body of your essay, you should include your survey-interview questions but it is not necessary to include your participants’ answers. Focus on the answers to these questions and compare and contrast the 2 sets of information. Were your results what you expected? How were they similar; how were they different? Was it easier to interact virtually or face-to-face? What were the challenges? What were the advantages of meeting face-to-face verses meeting virtually? What were the disadvantages of each way? How did the differences in the following seem to influence the nature of the responses: physical distance, anonymity, richness of communication, visual cues, time? You will want to be very thorough in the body as this is a very large percentage of your grade on the essay.

Your conclusion should summarize how virtual interaction with people compares and contrasts with face-to-face interaction reaffirming your thesis without restating it. This is where you conclude with an overall summary describing your insight into what the findings mean to you and what you learned about yourself in reference to your psychological well-being and the method of communication that proves more effective.

Mr. and Mrs. J seek counseling for “communication issues.”

Mr. and Mrs. J seek counseling for “communication issues.” During the first session, Mrs. J complains that Mr. J has “no interest” in her sexually, stating they have in fact not had any sexual interaction in over a year.  They live together and have very little conflict, neither recalling the last time they argued. They mostly live separate lives, each highly valuing individuality, but do attend school events and church together regularly.

He is 46 and she, 38 years old, they have been married for 5 years, and have three school-aged children between them (each having children from prior marriages, but not having children together) living at home.  Mr. J is an attorney, and works 50-60 hour work weeks. Mrs. J is a dietician, and works 35-40 hour work weeks at a local hospital. Childcare is shared between them, but often time activities are divided up based on interest, often leaving them active with their biological children (Mrs. J recants, “he and his sons enjoy sports, me and my son enjoy theater”).  He has had problems with blood pressure, and takes medication to keep it under control. She had a hysterectomy last year.  Neither have any history of mental health struggles.

Please respond (short answer is fine) to all of the following questions:

In your diagnosis, please use DSM IV-TR diagnoses when appropriate (found in your powerpoint presentations)

  1. What are the client’s most prominent ‘presenting issues’ (that is, what seems to take priority as being wrong)?

  2. What else do you feel you need to know (or, what might be some areas you may ask about in order to determine what is going on and how severe the problem may be)?

  3. What do you think may be your ‘initial diagnosis’ based on the information given in the case study? Why?

  4. What, if any, psychospiritual factors might be present and maintaining the presenting issue?

  5. What are possible methods of treatment or referral?
