Some major health concerns that affect people at work can increase heart disease. Your job can be stressful at times where you want  Toxic leaders can affect you in your health. Stressing over the fact your work goes unnoticed can lead to heart issues and stroke related incidents. We can reduce stress by encouraging a motivating work environment. Employers should allow workers to take proper vacation breaks to spend with families. In the military they give us time off by letting Soldiers taking leave. It is our time to unwind from the stressors of the Army and are able to travel to Home of Record or vacation of our choosing. Flexible hours can help people have more time to work on the personal and professional goals. When work convenes a social event that sets the mood to feeling welcomed. At the social events employees and employers get to know one another and their families. My health and safety concern in my workplace is making sure my DD93 and SGLV is updated. The DD93 is the service member emergency data  on who to contact when something happens to service member. The SGLI is a service members life insurance. These have to be updated every year to ensure that the proper people are notified and money is covered by who it is entitled to in the paperwork.

#2

There are numerous health concerns that people face in the workplace on a daily basis. An ideal place of work provides the employee with a pleasant work environment, having realistic timelines and expectations from employees. Having a proper policy in place and if there is one, complying with that policy at management level. There are many other issues such as mental health, bullying, harassment that can contribute to a stressful environment, depression, overeating, hypertension, substance abuse, etc. It can affect an employee’s work effort, commitment, and well-being.

Reducing stress is not just an individual’s job, it is also the employer’s responsibility to provide employees safe and secure evolvement. As an employee one can avoid stressing over things that they can’t be controlled, eliminating interruptions, eating properly and taking rest, identify self-imposing stress, help other team members. Employers can help encourage employees in improving their physical activity. Providing employees with ergonomically options such as a standup desk. Recognizing employees and appreciating their contributions during stressful situations. Lead by example, not just tell employees to decompress but show them by setting an example.

Due to the recent management change in my organization, we have been experiencing significant issues at work. Sitting in front of a computer for 10-12 hours has become the new norm, I don’t have time for lunch anymore due to meetings or unreasonable tasks that are due, co-workers will constantly interrupt you while you are having lunch at your desk, lately I have been taking work at home, I have also worked during my assigned day off or during vacation time, I have worked while I was sick in the last 3 months not because I wanted to work because I had to work.

To help individuals with the long sedentary occupation, my organization has provided standup desks. A workplace injury is another important topic of discussion. We constantly have fire drills at our office, our safe location is more than a mile away. Last year we had a fire drill during one of the very hottest days of the month, which resulted in one of our co-workers having a stroke. She medically retired this year; it was sad to see how life moved on and we didn’t learn anything from the tragedy.

It is important to understand the employee’s health condition and to have reasonable arrangements made prior to these drills, proper options should be in place.

ALL WORK MUST BE COMPLETED ON TIME AND MUST BE ALL ORIGINAL AS IT GOES THROUGH A TURNITIN PROGRAM ALSO  ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE ANSWERED IN FULL DETAIL  AND ALL PAPERS MUST BE OF QUALITY OR IT WILL NEED TO BE REDONE AND OR REFUNDED

Codrina is a 40-year-old, divorced, white female seeking counseling at a community mental health center.  She is seeking counseling because she has been depressed, unable to sleep well and has lost her appetite since the sudden ending of her marriage one month ago.  Before leaving, her husband told her that he did not love her any longer and doubted whether he ever did. He told Codrina that he had felt lonely and distant from her for the entire three years of their short marriage. He now questions whether she is even capable of feeling love for another person.

Codrina was raised in an orphanage and her childhood years were characterized by isolation, hunger and scarcity. She describes spending many days just staring at the wall and rocking back and forth. After she left the orphanage at 16 years of age she worked in odd jobs and was in and out of abusive relationships with men for a few years until she met her husband about four years ago. She lived with him for six months before they got married. Even from the start she had a difficult time trusting him or any man for that matter. She showed little interest in sex, never cried, rarely laughed and had a very subdued mood most of the time. In the second year of her marriage, Codrina discovered that her husband was having an affair with a woman he worked with. Instead of being upset, she was almost relieved because it seemed to take the pressure off of her to engage in sexual intercourse with her husband.  Out of guilt, he finally told her about the affair. Upon hearing his confession, Condrina showed no emotion and didn’t even ask him to end the affair. From that point forward her husband spent few nights at home and one month ago announced he was filing for divorce. Now, in addition to her insomnia and poor appetite she is neglecting her self-care to the point that she is being shunned by others who come in contact with her, which deepens her sense of isolation. She’s coming to therapy to see if you can help her before she loses all hope that she can regain control of her life.

Assume that you are a cognitive behavioral therapist and have agreed to work with Codrina. Using principles and techniques from Beck’s Cognitive Therapy (CT), respond to the following questions:

  • From a cognitive behavioral perspective, state at least three assumptions that you would make about the origin of Codrina’s behavioral problems? Be specific and detailed in your response.
  • Describe at least two goals that you, as a cognitive behavioral therapist, would have for Codrina in therapy. Give a thorough rationale for each goal bringing in terms and concepts from CT.
  • How might your goals differ from those that Codrina might have coming into therapy?
  • Identify at least two cognitive distortions that Codrina might be experiencing. State each one and provide evidence from the information given about her life that would support each cognitive distortion you have mentioned.
  • What CT techniques or methods would you use to achieve the goals mentioned in question 2?
  • As a CT therapist, what would be your desired outcome for Codrina be as a result of your work with her?

Submit your response to the M4: Assignment 2 Dropbox by Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Your paper should be at least 1000 words. Your paper should be double-spaced and in 12 point, Times New Roman font with normal one-inch margins, and should follow APA style for attributing sources. It should include a title page with a running head and a reference page.

Evaluating Professional and Popular Press Self-discovery Assessments

Evaluating Professional and Popular Press Self-discovery Assessments

Career counselors often use psychological assessments to assist individuals in career planning and goal-setting. There are several steps that can be helpful in the career planning process, such as conducting a self-assessment, exploring industries/careers, and determining factors that are non-negotiable (e.g., shift, location, salary, the need for specific benefits). Prior to beginning work on this assignment, you will need to read the article by Barr (2014) and take two different types of self-discovery assessment.

To begin, research VIA Character Strengths Test, O*Net Interest Profiler, and TypeFocus listed below to determine which one is of interest to you. Once you have completed your research, take one of the assessment to complete Part I of your Journal.

A. VIA Character Strengths Test

Character strengths are viewed as our positive personality they are our core capacities for thinking, feeling, and behaving in ways that can bring benefit to us and others.
To take the VIA Character Strengths assessment: follow the link to register.

Option #1: Leadership Analysis Paper: Annotated Bibliography

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO :

Option #1: Leadership Analysis Paper: Annotated Bibliography

This week, submit an annotated bibliography for at least three sources you plan to use for your final Portfolio Project.

This is based on my final project please see below::

option #1: Leadership Analysis Paper

For this Portfolio Project paper, you will choose two leaders, one male and one female. These two leaders do not need to be from the same organization. One leader should be what you would consider “effective and successful” and the other should be what you would consider “ineffective and unsuccessful.”

Compare these two leaders regarding their leadership characteristics, use of power and influence, and how these relate to their effectiveness or lack of effectiveness within their respective organization.

The entire portfolio project is worth 35% of your overall grade for this course. Make sure to use research to back up your statements within the paper. You will need to address each of the following as they relate to your two leaders. Each element is worth equal value.

Assignment 1 –  I Get Better Grades With a Little Help From My Friends

Assignment 1 –  I Get Better Grades With a Little Help From My Friends

You  have two friends who have been struggling with exams in their classes.  They can’t figure out what they are doing wrong, so they approach you  for advice. In talking with your friends, you learn:

  1. Both of them are studying in one big cram session the evening before the exam.  They’re just not motivated to put in more time.
  2. They primarily study by just rereading notes and the chapters.
  3. One of your friends is only 17 and she checks her phone about every 2 minutes for text messages or social media updates.
  4. Your  other friend is returning to college after some time away and is 65  years old.  She finds it easy to recognize some information when asked a  fill-in-the-blank question, but it is much harder if she has to define a  vocabulary word or answer an essay.

The  good news is that you are enrolled in a psychology class that can help  both your friends improve their study habits and results on the exam.

As you prepare to help your friends, here are some specific topics to address.

  1. From  Chapter 1, what part of the brain is responsible for remembering the  important information that will be on the exam?  Describe that part of  the brain and its purpose.
  2. As covered in Chapter 4, psychologists have determined that age can effect cognitive development and memory.
  3. For  your friend who is 17, how could you use what you have learned about  moral development to explain why she may be checking her phone every 2  minutes for text messages and social media updates.   How could she  expand her attention?
  4. For  your friend is age 65, and having a hard time with vocabulary, explain  what may be happening that prevents her from doing well on this type of  activity.  How could she improve?
  5.  In  chapter 6, we learn about operant conditioning.  Describe operant  conditioning in your own words.  Thinking of operant conditioning, how  could you help your friend use rewards as motivation to study more  often?
  6.  Using  what we have learned in chapter 7, explain why your memory may not  retain all the information learned in the cram session the night before  the big exam.
  7. How would cramming effect encoding?
  8. How would cramming effect retrieval?
  9. What is one technique that each friend could use to help improve memory and prepare for the exam?
  10. It’s  the night before the big exam.  You check on your friends and your  younger friend is not doing well.  It turns out that things have turned  out even worse.  Her boyfriend broke up with her, stole money from her  bank account, and her grandmother passed away the week before.  You  notice on her Facebook page that she posed, “Where can I find some  rope?!?”
  11. In  chapter 5, you learn about suicide and what to do.  Based on that, what  steps can you take to help your friend?  Be sure to include any  resources that you could call to get advice

Assignment 1: Discussion—Motivational Interviewing and Stages of Change

Assignment 1: Discussion—Motivational Interviewing and Stages of Change

The stages of change model suggests that clients who are in the process of changing addictive behavior move through successive stages, from limited insight to maintenance of change. These stages will be presented by the client’s attitudes and behaviors. It is the job of the clinician to identify the correct stage and employ specific interventions for the treatment to be successful. Most clients opting for an assessment will likely be in the early stages of change.

The major tenets of motivational interviewing were designed to provide clinicians with tools to facilitate the change process in clients. Extensive research supports its effectiveness and it has become the standard in the past decade. These techniques are grounded in the client-centered approach rather than the confrontational approach to substance abuse treatment used in previous decades.

Use the module readings and the Argosy University online library resources to research motivational interviewing and the stages of change model.

Download and review the case study.

Respond to the following:

  • Explain factors for determining the client’s stage of change and identify which stage of change the client is in.
  • What two motivational interviewing techniques would be helpful in assessing substance abuse in this case? Give reasons and explanations.

Support your responses using your module readings and authoritative resources. Incorporate theory and factual information in your response.

Write your initial response in 2–3 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

By Saturday, July 29, 2017, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through Wednesday, August 2, 2017, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses. Comment on the points made by asking questions, providing clarifications, giving another point of view, challenging their views, or showing relationships between two or more points in the discussion.

All discussion assignments in this course will be graded using a rubric. Download the discussion rubric and carefully read it to understand the expectations.
